Operations access belongs to a retail organization and its authorized locations. Check both selections before working with inventory or settings.
Staff roles
| Action | Owner or manager | Cashier |
|---|---|---|
| View location details for an authorized location | Yes | Yes |
| Edit location name, address or sales tax | Yes | No |
| Create or edit items, suppliers, pricing and identifiers | Yes | No |
| Receive stock or make total-count corrections | Yes | No |
| Confirm same-item packaging conversions | Yes | Yes |
| Review the packaging change report | Yes | Yes |
A role does not provide access to another location unless the staff member has that location grant. Packaging conversion permission does not allow someone to add or remove total units or change supplier costs and taxes.
Use a back-room computer
Sign in to Operations in a web browser with your staff account. That computer does not need to be enrolled as a cash register to manage inventory.
Your access depends on your role and location grants, not on which computer you use.
Inventory work requires an online connection
Creating or editing items, receiving stock, changing pricing, assigning identifiers and converting package forms all require the service to be reachable. These changes are not queued as offline inventory edits.
A register can continue offline checkout when its current authorization and installed data permit it. It uploads completed sales when it reconnects. Until those uploads arrive, online stock counts may not include all sales.
Completed sales can reveal shortages when they upload. Review the resulting cases rather than assuming that a missing upload means stock is still physically available.
If an action is missing or unavailable
Check the selected organization and location. Ask an owner or manager to review your staff role and location access. Do not use a colleague's account to work around missing access.
